Walid Al Wawi is a Palestinian artist. His experiments with human documentation through video, photography, text and installation have been recognised for their minimal approach, political views and ideas on the human condition. Walid’s artwork is driven by an innate need to educate and provoke the conscience with the subtlety of subject in the context of its negative space. His work, Place the Dots, which won the 2011 Sheikha Manal Young Artist Award, has been publicly referred to as the “Arab Spring painting”. In recent years, he has been featured in various group exhibitions, received several awards and completed a residency culminating in his first solo show. Walid’s work has been featured at both local and international art festivals. In 2014, at FIAC Paris, he completed his first live performance.
